TECHNOLOGY VALUATION AND THE FINANCIAL SIDE OF LICENSING
Sunday, February 8
7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
AUTM’s Technology Valuation Course provides an overview of various financial terms that go into a license and their implications on value, providing a foundation for understanding their impact on negotiating terms.
The course describes various valuation principles affecting pricing and risk, including cost, income, industry standards (comparables), rules of thumb, discounted cash flow, and equity valuation.
The course also includes a review of the financial reporting obligations within a license, illustrating the financial flows under a typical academic-stage life sciences license.
Students will work collaboratively in a small group setting, applying the concepts to a case study and developing license term proposals, which are then discussed amongst all teams.
If you have responsibility for negotiating licenses or are interested in valuation and financial terms, the Licensing Valuation Course is for you.
Attendees should have a basic familiarity with financial and legal terms used in licensing and be proficient in web searching and using Excel spreadsheets.
