AUTM Achieves Global Outreach and Advocacy Milestones in Strategic Plan Progress

Following a highly successful Annual Meeting earlier this month, AUTM has released its quarterly update on the 2025-2027 Strategic Plan, highlighting significant progress in global engagement and advocacy initiatives.

Strategic Priority - Support Technology Transfer and Knowledge Exchange Globally

Initiative: Identify and communicate the value proposition of AUTM membership for international members.

The Annual Meeting served as a pivotal platform for fostering a truly global community. AUTM strategically highlighted educational sessions and networking opportunities tailored to international attendees, coupled with a special discount to maximize participation. This resulted in an unprecedented gathering of 427 attendees from 47 countries, creating a dynamic environment for cross-border collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Building on this international momentum, AUTM facilitated a unique opportunity for a Brazilian delegation from Fortec & Anprotec to delve into the Washington, D.C. innovation ecosystem. The delegation’s itinerary included a visit to Georgetown University’s Office of Technology Commercialization, where they engaged with Vice President Tatiana Litvin-Vechnyak and Program Specialist Rohan Joy Mathew, gaining valuable insights into the university's technology transfer strategies and partnership models.

Continuing their exploration, the delegation visited Johns Hopkins University, hosted by Associate Director of Corporate Partnerships, Daniel Caraviello. This exchange fostered a deeper understanding of diverse approaches to technology commercialization and strengthened international ties within the AUTM community.

Strategic Priority - Improve Advocacy for the Technology Transfer and Knowledge Exchange Profession

Initiative: Be at the forefront of educating and providing resources for members and elected officials about the impact of proposed technology transfer and knowledge exchange related legislation.

In a landmark initiative, AUTM capitalized on the Annual Meeting location to organize “AUTM On the Hill Day,” bringing more than 80 technology transfer professionals to Capitol Hill. This unprecedented effort aimed to educate congressional staff on the critical role of technology transfer in driving innovation and economic growth.
