Sharing Tech Transfer Insights Around the Globe

AUTM recently took to the world stage at the SARIMA (Southern African Research and Innovation Management Association) Annual Conference last week. The conference, held in Stellenbosch, South Africa, provided a key platform for exchanging ideas and fostering collaboration among technology transfer professionals from across Africa and around the world. The conference brought together professionals in research and innovation management to discuss trends, share best practices, and network with colleagues.

Joy Goswami, Chair of AUTM and Director of Licensing at the Research Foundation for SUNY, served as an invited speaker where he delivered a talk titled, "Global Trends in Technology Transfer: Building Pathways for Impact and International Collaboration." He shared valuable insights on the evolving landscape of technology transfer and highlighted the importance of a global, interconnected approach to innovation.

"It was a pleasure to share insights in my talk and to learn from so many colleagues driving innovation and tech transfer across the region," Goswami said. "I am grateful to SARIMA for the kind invitation and for the opportunity to connect with this vibrant community."

His presentation, which focused on the role of technology transfer in creating positive societal impact beyond just financial return, resonated with attendees. He also emphasized the significance of international partnerships in accelerating the commercialization of academic research.

Beyond the formal sessions, Goswami was able to capitalize on many informal interactions with colleagues. "Gatherings like this are always a highlight," he noted, underscoring the value of networking and relationship-building within the profession.

Goswami's visit reinforces AUTM's commitment to supporting technology transfer and knowledge exchange on a global scale. By engaging with organizations like SARIMA, AUTM continues its mission to build a more inclusive and effective innovation ecosystem that benefits everyone.
