What problem does your company aim to solve?
Healthcare innovation faces a persistent challenge: the gap between research validation and real-world adoption. This gap is even wider for digital interventions, which are often un-patentable and challenging to commercialize. For universities and research institutions, this often means promising digital health discoveries don’t reach their potential for commercialization despite significant investment.

Scalable Care addresses this gap by providing a platform that helps organizations design, deploy, and commercialize validated digital care programs more efficiently. Our AI-enabled platform supports implementation, monitoring, and full healthcare compliance, allowing research-backed interventions to move more quickly from study results to real-world delivery.

For research leaders and tech transfer offices, this creates a pathway to generate licensing revenue for un-patentable intellectual property and  more quickly reach, and help, patients and communities.

What motivated you to start, or join, your company?
Scalable Care was founded to remove the barriers that often prevent proven healthcare programs from reaching the people who need them.

Many clinicians and researchers develop effective care approaches—particularly digital or behavioral interventions—that demonstrate strong outcomes in studies but remain difficult to scale beyond pilot programs.

The goal was and still is to provide the infrastructure that allows these evidence-based programs to move from research environments into broader clinical and community deployment, expanding access to interventions that have already been shown to work.

Can you share a little about your company’s mission and what drives your work?
Scalable Care's mission is to accelerate the translation of evidence-based healthcare innovations into scalable delivery models.

Traditionally, research validation and implementation occur in separate phases, often involving different systems and long delays between discovery and deployment. The Scalable Care platform integrates these steps by enabling interventions to be tested, refined, and ultimately delivered using the same infrastructure.

This approach helps reduce the time between validation and implementation while providing institutions with a new, rapid, compliant, and lower cost way to bring research-derived programs into real-world use.

What trends or challenges in technology transfer are you most focused on addressing right now?
A challenge frequently heard from technology transfer offices is the large volume of validated digital healthcare interventions that are difficult to commercialize through traditional IP pathways. Many behavioral, digital, or care-delivery innovations are highly impactful but not easily protected through patents, which can limit traditional licensing opportunities.

As a result, these innovations are often published but never broadly implemented.

Scalable Care provides opportunity for these types of innovations by enabling institutions to package and deploy evidence-based interventions as scalable digital programs. This creates a mechanism for translating non-patentable intellectual assets—such as digital care models, behavioral protocols, and clinical workflows—into deployable solutions that can reach patients.

What is one fun fact people might now know about your company?
Scalable Care's AI team holds three PhDs in artificial intelligence and includes the first team to pass the Turing Test. At the time it was featured on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" back in 2014 before AI gained the notoriety it has today.
