What book would you give everyone as a gift, and why?
Homegoing, a novel by Yaa Gyasi. This is a NYT notable book, that, to quote a Barnes & Noble review, “illuminates slavery’s troubled legacy…and shows how the memory of captivity has been inscribed on the soul of our nation.” It’s powerful. Add it to your bedside reading.

Have you ever been told you look like a celebrity? If so, who?
Yes, Julianne Margulies. I’ll take it!

Who’s your favorite comedian?
The two that come to mind right away are Aziz Ansari and Margaret Cho.

Dogs or cats?
Well, I love both. I’m a cat mom….But I teach puppy yoga at the local shelter.

What got you into yoga?
Having a space to only do one thing and not look at whatever screen was always appealing to me. I’ve practiced since I was a teenager. As a teacher, I love to share how accessible yoga is. Everyone can do yoga, and I love to show people that.

What show do you recommend we binge-watch?
The first season of True Detective on HBO. It’s exactly what I look for in a show.

In the last five years, what new belief, behavior, or habit has most improved your life?
Not hitting the snooze button!

What drew you to work with AUTM?
The Better World Project, hands down!
