What is your current state of mind?
Frenetic!

What is your greatest extravagance?
Fishing trips to the Florida Keys.

What do you consider the most overrated virtue?
Temperance. I have never gotten anywhere fun through self-control or restraint.

If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be?
A sloth. I really could use another lifetime to catch up on the sleep I am missing from this time around.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
I have two kids, an amazing wife and an awesome job at an amazing institution. I also make the most amazing compost for my garden-it’s a tough choice.

Where would you most like to live?
Deep in the Everglades National Park.

Who are your heroes in real life?
Carl Sagan, William Gibson, Henry David Thoreau, Teddy Roosevelt, Clyde Butcher, Henry Rollins, my sister.

If you could offer a tech transfer newbie any advice, what would it be?
Enjoy the ride! There is so much to see and do, and so many people to meet who are excited about tech transfer and who love helping other tech transfer professionals. Ask lots of questions and go to as many AUTM events as you can. And never believe a primary investigator when they say no IP will be developed! It’s a trap!
