Where would you most like to live?
I actually love where I live now—in the suburbs of Chicago. We go into the city when we feel like taking advantage of all that the city offers, but we also enjoy staying in the suburbs in our quiet, friendly neighborhood with large trees and parks. Chicago has a lakefront, nightlife, great restaurants and amazing architecture. Seriously, what more could you want? And I love having four seasons!

What do you most value in your friends?
The thing I most value in my friends is their ability to make me laugh even when I’m not in the mood to laugh. Invaluable.

What is your motto?
Positive thoughts bring positive results. A former boss of mine shared that with me once and it has stuck with me for more than 20 years. And it’s so true.

What are your favorite names?
Mine. All of them. My maiden name was Madhuri Chandrashekhar Waman Bhaskar Narayan Joshi. In my culture, the mother and all her offspring take the father’s first name as their middle name. In my family, we took it a step further. Chandrashekhar is my father, Waman was his father, Bhaskar was his father and so on and so forth.

What is it that you most dislike?
I really dislike overpaying for anything. Being a bargain shopper at heart, I am always searching for the best deal possible. When I find out that something has gone on sale after I buy it, it really drives me nuts.

What is your greatest regret?
I try not to have regrets. I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and life’s too short for “shoulda, coulda, woulda”.

When and where were you happiest?
My happy place is on a beach vacation. Something about sitting still in the warmth of the sun while staring at the waves is very calming to me.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
The one thing I would change about myself is that I am totally resistant to change. Ironic, isn’t it?

If there was one thing you could change about your tech transfer job, what would it be?
The only thing I would change about my job as an AUTM staff member is that I wish I would have joined the team sooner!
