What It's All About
Many people in the tech transfer field are familiar with the 2011 US Supreme Court Stanford v. Roche decision. But not everyone is familiar with the April 2018 revisions to the Bayh-Dole Act regarding the obligation for universities to require employees to assign invention rights to their university, or theapproach on the format and timing of assignments in Europe. This session will provide an overview suggestions for ensuring compliance in both jurisdictions. 

Learning Objectives: 

• Understand the Bayh-Dole Act changes, effective May 14, 2018, in so far as they affect universities 

• Identify best practices for drafting an assignment 

• Discuss timing of signing such an assignment 

• Identify assignments that work for the US and abroad, including the EPO 

• Discuss notarization requirements; and assignor/assignee signing requirements
