RK Narayanan is Senior Director, Business Development and Technology Transfer at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL), a biomedical research and education institution in Long Island. RK has a great time building relationships with the amazing scientists at CSHL, partnering with industry and investors, making deals with a long-term view. RK is an experienced technology transfer professional, with 30+ years of experience in life sciences research and 12+ years of licensing expertise. RK is active as an AUTM member and volunteers on the Better World Project Committee, the Mentorship Committee, and the Eastern Region Planning Committee. RK is a Certified Licensing Professional (CLP).
Speakers
Matthew Smith is currently an Assistant Director at Penn State University’s Office of Technology Transfer. He has worked in this office for more than thirty-three years as a licensing officer He manages a diverse portfolio of technologies, including LionGlass.
Hunter Swisher currently serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Phospholutions, Inc., which he founded prior to graduating with his B.S. degree in Plant Sciences from Pennsylvania State University. Phospholutions is a sustainable fertilizer company that under Hunter's leadership has raised more than $40 million in venture capital to develop technologies to improve phosphorus fertilizer efficiency. Most recently, Hunter was recognized as Forbes 30 under 30 in the 2023 Social Impact class. He is the inventor/co-inventor on five patents issued or pending around the world. Hunter currently serves on the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Advisory Board within the College of Agricultural Sciences at Penn State University. He is actively involved as a member and an Ambassador for the International Fertilizer Association. He serves as a Board Member for the Sustainable Phosphorus Alliance.
