Women Inventor’s Toolkit

Empowering Women to Take Leadership Roles

The mission of the Women Inventors Special Interest Group is to empower women to participate and take leadership roles in innovation and commercialization through advocacy and the implementation of changes.

To achieve this mission, the SIG has developed this toolkit. Its purpose is to provide Technology Transfer Offices with the information garnered from interviews and research of existing programs, all geared towards supporting women in STEM and entrepreneurship.

The group hopes to assist and support TTOs in initiating their own programs, and make it easier for them to increase the number of women disclosing inventions and participating in the technology transfer process.

To create this toolkit, representatives of more than 10 schools were interviewed to share their lessons learned from implementing various programs and events to assist women researchers. This information has been distilled to identify important factors for starting and developing programs.
