Cloning is not an Option: Finding Efficiencies in Licensing Operations and Software Marketing: At the AUTM 2024 annual meeting, AI dominated discussions, and underscored the need for TTOs to find ways to leverage the power of AI to make our work more efficient. This session will highlight how TTOs are embracing AI for Operations and Marketing opportunities, and the difference between using AI to empower the TTO staff and managing it as innovation. |

Creative Works Licensing; Licensing TMs: There and Back Again: If all the TTO ever handled were patent disclosures and prosecutions, our jobs would be pretty straightforward. The reality is, our offices get asked to handle the full breadth of intellectual creation coming out of the university, and that can mean working on unusual, creative, and sometimes downright strange works toward transfer. In this session, we’ll explore working with two other types of assets that have a lot in common with software licensing: Creative works/copyright, and trademarks.
In Part 1, Creative Works, we’ll explore current best practices and considerations in licensing copyright materials and creative works, including how a background in software licensing can help prepare you for working with these assets. In part 2, Trademarks, we’ll discuss how TTOs handle trademarks as assets and licensing opportunities, including variance among institutions. |
