What is your favorite food and why?
My favorite food is Thai food, I love how vegetables with meat and seafood are cooked and seasoned. The Thai cuisine includes a mix of herbs used also in Latin America such as cilantro, basil, garlic, delicious!

What’s the best advice you ever received?
In life you can lose everything but knowledge. Be humble, study and learn, these skills will allow you to always overcome many barriers in life, to identify where the opportunities lie and to start all over again if needed.

What are some hobbies you have?
I love handicrafts. Pottery, I learned how to throw jars, plates and to do sculptures. I did it for 20 years but now that I have a full-time job, I have paused, I hope to resume soon. Also, I enjoy cooking for my family over the weekends and knitting in Winter is one of my preferred hobbies.

What’s something that surprised you from your career path?
The power of collaboration. In my work, I have experienced the power of collaborating with government, industry and universities.

What’s something you’re working on right now that really excites you?
Two projects, one is the Georgia Tech Medellin Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center that we just launched in March 2023, it is a big endeavor; and the Innovation District in Concepción Chile.

What current challenges are you working to address within your own professional life or generally in the tech transfer field?
The challenges that we face are how to make universities and corporations work efficiently, to trust in their relationship and collaborate sustainably.

What do you like most about working with the BWP Committee?
The possibility to learn about cool projects created worldwide, to help universities from everywhere get the chance to show their inventions.

What do you wish more people knew about the BWP? How can people get more involved?
It is a great opportunity to showcase the world what your universities and professors are doing. Innovation happens anywhere, not only in the developed world, but it is also a wonderful opportunity to leverage your work and get noticed. I would suggest having informative sessions customized for regions since each region communicates differently and requires different strategies.

If you could give advice to someone submitting a story to the BWP, what would it be?
Please adhere closely to the submission instructions, ensuring that you respond comprehensively to all required questions. Clarity and detail in your responses are key to making the most of this exceptional opportunity. This platform offers a valuable chance to highlight your university's activities and achievements, providing excellent visibility to potential collaborators and corporations.
